The Provincial Archives of Alberta is pleased to present Alberta Ballet & the Documentation of Performance, an exhibit in celebration of Alberta Ballet’s 50th Anniversary. Alberta Ballet donated its extensive archives to the Provincial Archives of Alberta in 2012, where the records were appraised, arranged, rehoused, described and made available to the public. The completeness of the Alberta Ballet archives and the wide array of records therein enabled this retrospective survey of the company’s first fifty years and is a fine example of performing arts in the archives.

For over 30 years the Alberta Legislature has celebrated the holiday season with musical performances throughout December. Following the Legislature Light-Up on December 1 at 4 p.m., nearly 70 musical ensembles from throughout the province will grace the Legislature rotunda’s grand staircase with daily performances during Celebrate the Season.

Santa is returning to the Edmonton Humane Society to take photos with your companion animals!
From December 4th to 23rd, Santa will be at EHS on weekends from 12pm to 5pm, and Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday evenings from 4 to 7pm.
No appointment is necessary, just drop in. Printed or digital photos are available, and all proceeds support the homeless, abused and neglected companion animals that the Edmonton Humane Society.

Storytellers, the latest exhibition in the Borealis Gallery, comprises 25 individual artworks from the Alberta Foundation for the Arts (AFA) collection, each of which tells a complete story. The exhibition explores moments in time, relationships, action and story.
Storytellers showcases Alberta artists and involves a number of different perspectives, media and approaches to Albertan identity. Visitors will explore the idea of storytelling through contemporary artworks which embody the traditional literary elements of setting, character, point of view and action.

The Deep Freeze Byzantine Winter Festival is a free family event uniting Ukrainian, Franco-Albertan, Franco-African, First Nations, Chinese and Acadian/East Coast communities to taste, share and experience the Olde New Year. Deep Freeze 2017: Village Upside Down features a variety of free activities, including live music, cuisine, dance, wagon rides, ice skating, storytelling, fireworks, an artisan market and gallery, and much more. January 14 will be Francophone Cultural Day and January 15 will be Ukrainian Cultural Day. There will be Aboriginal Cultural performances and programming on both days.
